Asus Zenfone Ares: A mobile with 8 GB of RAM, AR and VR for $ 300

Asus has been preparing the launch of its new smartphone for some time, the new device is called Zenfone Ares and it comes with a feature that we do not see very often: capabilities of augmented and virtual reality integrated. Last year the company launched the ASUS ZenFone AR, an augmented reality device powered by Google’s Tango. This year a new device with improvements and with the renewed ARCore tool is presented.

The Asus ZenFone Ares has a 5.7 Super AMOLED display inches with 2560 x 1440 QHD resolution and Tru2life technology to improve visibility in bright environments. Something strange about the design of the terminal is that Asus has not reduced the frames as it did with the others. Inside has a Snapdragon 821 chip from Qualcomm along with 8 GB of RAM. Its storage is 128 GB expandable by microSD cards.

Asus has not changed the specifications so much with respect to its previous mobile. The Snapdragon 821 was a good chip in its time, but today there are better options in Qualcomm’s 600 and 700 lineup that give similar performance. The rear camera has a sensor 23 MP with motion detection, one of the most attractive aspects is the Built-in Augmented and Virtual Reality. In the Asus AR it was possible to use the device case as an AR viewer, but at the moment there are no details about this on the new phone.
