Yesterday, Microsoft announced that the prices of Xbox Live Gold they would increase permanently, but now they regretted it and said that will no longer be the case. Additionally, all free-to-play titles will no longer require an active subscription to the service to be able to play.
Here is the statement from Microsoft:
“We made a mistake today and you were right to let us know. Connecting and playing with your friends is a vital part of video games and we couldn’t meet the expectations of gamers who count on it every day. As a result, we have decided not to increase the price of Xbox Live Gold.
We will also use this moment to align Xbox Live with how we view our players as the center of the experience. Free-to-play titles will no longer require an Xbox Live Gold membership. We are working to change this as soon as possible in the coming months.
If you are an Xbox Live Gold member, the price you are already paying will be honored. New members can continue to enjoy Xbox Live Gold for the same price as always. ”
Service Xbox Live Gold allows you to play online with your friends, plus you will also find exclusive discounts on the Microsoft Store in games, applications and more. Of course, we cannot forget the Xbox Games with Gold, a batch of free games that Microsoft offers every month for its subscribers.
