In the past few hours, several reports have appeared on the web according to which several players of PlayStation 4 received a particular message that, once read, would cause the block of the console. Following this, the unfortunate players found themselves having to reset the same at Factory Default Settings.

A user of Rainbow Six Siege reports his own experience in this regard by saying that, while he was in the game with his team, the whole group received the offending message and (after opening it) all their consoles crashed and had to be reset to Factory Default Settings. The only team member who “escaped” had the privacy message set to “Nobody”so the above message did not reach you.

At the moment the only thing we know about this peculiar message is that it is made up of a string of characters that the console cannot recognize and therefore causes it to be blocked. A similar event occurred a few years ago with several reboot episodes iPhone 6 following receipt of a particular message.

The reports sent by users are many and continue to increase. It seems that the only way to avoid receiving this unwanted message is to set the privacy of messages a Just friends or more drastically a Nobody.

To do this, just go to Console Settings> Account Management> Privacy Settings> Personal Settings | Messaging> Messaging> Friends only or Nobody. This way you will avoid receiving messages from strangers or from people who are not part of yours friends list.
