Skype: how to share your screen with someone

Zoom is not the only video conferencing platform that allows its users to share their screen. If changing circumstances suddenly force you to use this feature, Skype is here for you.

Don’t worry if you’re not very good with technology, sharing your screen with someone is easier than it seems. The following instructions are suitable for beginners, so you have one less thing to worry about.

How to share your screen on Skype

Start a Skype call as usual by tapping the phone icon at the top right of the contact. Once you have started your call, select the Share screen icon that will have a double square (should be in the hidden toolbar).

If you use Skype on your Android devicethe Share screen option will be at the bottom right of your screen.

If this step didn’t work for you, click on the three dots (most of the options) that will be on the toolbar. When the context menu appears, choose the Share screen option.

Don’t worry if your calling screen disappears and is replaced by the sharing screen. If you have more than one screen, you will need to click on the screen you want to share and click the Start Sharing option.

How do you know you’ve started sharing your screen? You will see a red frame around the screen you clicked on before. If you want to share another of your screens, go to:

• Screen sharing options or more options
  • Change screen or window (located in the context menu)

When you are done sharing your screen, click on the dual screen option and choose the Stop sharing option. If you can still see the Recent Discussions panel, click the three dots and select the Stop Sharing option.

As you can see, sharing your screen on Skype for Windows and Android is easy. At least when it comes to screen sharing, Zoom is no competition for Skype. How often should you share your screen with other people? Share your opinion in the comments below.
