Amazon has made the big deal, in fact it has managed to snatch from the hands of giants like HBO And Netflix the rights to bring one to the small screen TV series set in that Middle Earth told before by JRR Tolkien in his novel The Lord of the Rings (and various subsequent and posthumous literary works), and then picked up by the director Peter Jackson in the film trilogy of the same name and in the one dedicated to previous events, that is The Hobbit.

The very famous online store has decided to undertake this path for a while, signing for the realization of 5 seasons that will show us a narrative arc following the adventures of Bilbo Begginsbut prior to the birth of the fellowship of the ring.

The negotiations for the signing of the agreements, as reported by theHollywood Reporter, were very complicated but at the same time fast and able to satisfy all parties. However, the operation could transform this TV series in the most expensive ever produced to date. In fact, only the negotiations ended with an expense of 250 million dollars which, adding: cast, equipment and special effects, rise up to reach the “insignificant figure” of about 1 billion dollars.

Within this new series, most likely, we will not find the characters we have grown fond of over the years, or at least many will not be played by the same actors, since the latter have definitively cut ties with their characters and the world of the series. . Indeed some characters, such as Andy Serkis (Gollum), do not see themselves in the least linked to the project of Amazon.

While there are also those who come to criticize the work as nothing more than a way to “make money”, it is the case of Jhon Rhys Davies (Gimli the dwarf). Fortunately, however (what time Amazon decide to contact him) we could meet again Ian McKellen (Gandalf), who has declared himself old but not old enough to not be able to reinterpret the role of the famous gray wizard.

As for the plot of the story, we will have to wait a long time since the agreements provide that we will start working on the series only in about 2 years, which is why we should not receive any news about it until the second half of 2019. , or, most likely, directly in 2020. In short, so far there has been a lot of talk only about money spent, but (at least we viewers) we don’t have the faintest idea of what story Amazon intends to tell us.

All that remains is to wait for the online giant to decide to inform us about the fate of the series. What do you think of this expensive and ambitious project carried out by Amazon? You will see the new one TV series? Let us know yours with a comment!
