The new AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D is on par with the Intel Core i9 12900KS in games

The date for the new processor to be available is getting closer AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D with AMD’s 3D V Cache technology that promises up to 15% more performance in games. We already saw a first impression about this processor a few days ago, but now TechPowerUp has released a complete analysis of the processor to shed even more data and see what can we expect from him even before its launch. On this occasion it has been tested in several reference games with 720p, 1080p, 1440p and 2160p resolutions.

Depending on the game and the resolution, the results are different, but we have verified both in this and in previous tests that this processor is very close to compete with the Intel Core i9-12900KS. In 1440p resolution and running Borderlands 3, the AMD processor has managed up to 16 FPS more than the Intel Core i9-12900KS. He has also achieved 8 more FPS using the same resolution in Far Cry 5.

In the rest of the tests it has remained very close to the most powerful Intel, obtaining an average in all the resolutions in which the new AMD processor comparable to this Intel Core i9-12900KS has been tested. And the Intel processor has an advantage when running with DDR5 memory at 6000 (36-36-36-76) compared to DDR4 at 3600 (16-20-20-34) of AMD.

An option to take into account for players since it offers a more contained price and the possibility of take advantage of current hardware such as DDR4 memory or AM4 board. But remember that if your goal is not games, this processor has lower clock speeds that will penalize other applications and that you will not be able to overclock.
