The original Fire Emblem from 1990 is coming to the West for the first time later this year!

Although the western public knew the series of Fire Emblem first thanks to Super Smash Bros. Melee and Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade in 2003, the series originally emerged in Japan in 1990. Now, 30 years after its initial release, the original Fire Emblem will be localized for our territory.

Unexpectedly, Nintendo revealed today that Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light will officially arrive in the West on December 4 on Nintendo Switch. It’s important to mention that this is the 1990 Famicom game and not a remake or anything like that. However, this version will have a couple of additions, such as the option to create a save point at any point in your adventure, and more.

Although this game will be distributed digitally only, a special edition with an art book, manual, download code and much more will be available in the future. However, quantities of this collection will be limited, so don’t hesitate to buy one as soon as possible.

Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light will finally arrive in the West through the Nintendo Switch on December 4, 2020, and will only be available for a limited time.
