The 125 municipalities of Antioquia will have free internet from April 29.
Marcelo Cataldo, president of TigoUne, spoke on BLU Radio’s La Nube about the 125 municipalities of Antioquia that will have free internet from April 29. (Also read: The 125 municipalities of Antioquia will have free internet from April 29).
The president of the company explained that the contract was made between TigoUne, MinTIC and the Government of Antioquia and its main objective is to reduce the digital divide and generate appropriation of technology in Colombian citizens.
Said the service help people perform specific services and tasks, “But for example if people want to do things like watch movies or something like that, they might get a little slow.”
He stated that the beneficiaries of the service they will have trainings to be able to access the internet and know in what situations it can be used.
In total there will be 467 million pesos of investment in each of the municipalities, in which the 147 free WiFi points will be located, to which 200 people will be able to connect simultaneously.
As part of the agreement between the Ministry and the government of Antioquia, also 47,800 computers were delivered, to improve access to ICT in the educational institutions of the department.
