Bubba Wallace: NASCAR says loop found at racing stand

Wallace, who is the only Black driver on NASCAR’s top circuit, has been very honest in recent weeks about the Black Lives Matter movement and relevant protests. He even called on NASCAR to ban the Confederate flag, which they did on June 10.

“We are angry and outraged and cannot say enough about how seriously we take this disgraceful act,” NASCAR’s statement read. “We have begun an immediate investigation and will do everything in our power to identify the person responsible and remove him from the sport.”

The racing organization also said the incident “only strengthens our resolve to make the sport open and friendly to all.”

Wallace began on Twitter on Sunday, saying that “an evil act” made him very sad and serves as a painful reminder of how far we must go as a society and how persistently we must be in the fight against racism.”

“It won’t break me, I won’t give up and I won’t give up.” I will continue to proudly stand up for what I believe in,” Wallace said.

NASCAR told CNN that the garage area where the track was found is limited to necessary personnel, including racing teams, NASCAR officials, security guards and health and safety personnel.

On Sunday, for the first time, NASCAR fans returned to the track in Talladega, Alabama, where the Confederate flag flew over the track with the sign “Defund NASCAR.” Confederate souvenirs were also sold across the street.

NASCAR announced that the race was postponed to Monday due to weather.

CNN’s Kevin Dotson contributed to this report.
