Intel now has its EUV tool available at its Fab34 in Ireland

Intel continues with its IDM 2.0 plans since Pat Gelsinger entered the company’s leadership. It has now welcomed its factory in Leixlip, Ireland, the first EUV tool from one of its factories in Oregon. This new tool comes from ASML and will help Intel boost its Intel 4 technology just two months after the first chip manufacturing equipment will begin to be installed at this new Intel Fab34 plant in Ireland.

The Intel Fab 34 began manufacturing in 2019 and is expected to be operational in 2023 with capacity for this new Intel 4 node manufactured with the EUV technology. Thanks to this new technology, wafers can be manufactured with greater precision and thusdouble Intel’s production capacity in Ireland.

Although ASML is headquartered in Europe, This new EUV tool was first shipped to an Intel factory in Oregon and then return it to Ireland. For transportation, they have been used four Boeing airplanes and later 35 trucks who have taken her to the facilities. This new tool has been sent since last December in parts and It has not been until now that it has been possible to complete.
